Cobalt Dealers Raise $15,000 for Cancer During Dealer Conference
The Cobalt 5 K Fun Run is an annual Cobalt dealer meeting function started in 2006 by Cobalt associate George Muffick, the North Eastern Regional Sales Manager at Cobalt Boats. Since it’s inception, George has been the leader of the event helping it grow from 6 participants in 2006 to the 78 that participated this year (either Running, Walking, or Biking). You see, George is a cancer survivor, and this year he made a focused effort to involve the worldwide Cobalt dealers in a fund raiser. Cobalt dealers were tested by a rejuvenating 5 K Fun Run in the Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg, FL running along the shores of Tampa Bay in the wee hours of the morning before the days agenda kicked off.
The Fun Run, which benefited the American Cancer Society, has been a dealer meeting event since 2006, but this was the first year to deem it a charitable cause, and the dealers responded to the fundraiser with very generous donations. Cobalt dealers accumulated over $15,000. 00 in a Calcutta auction which offered the sale of 17 - 4 person teams. The teams walked or ran the course for time, and the lowest cumulative time of the four man teams won the event. Dealers were allowed to purchase teams the night before the run at an exciting Calcutta, with an agreement to split 50%/50% the winnings with the cancer society.
After the event was over, and with an even more generous gesture, the winners donated their proceeds 100% to the Cancer Society. “The generosity of the Cobalt dealer group is simply amazing, and the fun run was absolutely a blast for all participants” says George Muffick. “The Fun Run has grown to become a fun and a competitive event with the lowest time being at the 20 minute mark for a 5K course, but even the walkers and bikers have fun because there are others at the same pace. It’s exciting to see our dealers continue to grow their emphasis on fitness throughout our dealer network, and each year at the fun run we get to see how they’ve improved.
Our dealers feel great physically because they challenge themselves to participate each year, and now they are benefitting others through their generosity towards the cancer society”. “It’s a winning combination!” In conjunction with the event, Cobalt held its annual dealer meeting conference at the Vinoy Resort and Golf Club in St. Petersburg, Florida. The conference brought together dealers from across the globe to experience what’s in store for the upcoming 2014 model year.
The packed agenda featured a spectacular introduction of the new 2014 models aboard “Yacht Starship”, Florida’s largest dining yacht. Discussion centered on the new R Series introductions which included the R3, R5 and R7. In addition, the 2014 model year will showcase the new 220S, featuring innovative seating design. Dealers were also enlightened by the dynamic keynote speech from Sam Dantzler, who shared key insights on sales strategies and critical issues facing today’s recreational retailers.

Cobalt’s Water Sports Series
In these days of endless sun and perpetual youth, the water holds a particular attraction for the athletic and the less-inhibited among us. Cobalt’s Water Sports Series (WSS) boats have been built for friends and families who enjoy each other at speed, in the air, occasionally upside-down.
In addition to all the expected, all the traditional advantages of Cobalt design and manufacture – raw power, quickness to plane, and stability in the turns, for example – the WSS boats bring along some special features sure to catch the practiced eye of marine athletes and the good-hearted people who pull them around.
Let’s begin with the unglamorous but utterly necessary: Cobalt wakeboard racks from industry pioneer Roswell stash up to four boards safely up, up and out of the way, preserving precious interior storage space. Proven Roswell design meshes maximized functionality with clean chromed lines in a package at once fashionable and efficient. Look for cast-aluminum tines machined to exceptionally close tolerances with a reinforcing backing plate and protective rubber gaskets mechanically positioned, all to ensure lifetime strength, lifetime ease of use. A three-position swivel comes standard on all Cobalt racks for convenient loading and unloading of boards – no damaging drops, no more leaning out over the gunnels to retrieve a board.
Okay. Time to jump up and down. Here comes the ski tower, ready to deliver the vertical lift necessary for airborne antics. Made of superstrong stainless-steel tubing (2” O.D.) all around – no aluminum whatsoever, the tower rises from backing plates structurally embedded in the fiberglass for rugged, durable, failsafe mounting. Welded grab handles emerge on each side. A bimini top creates generous headroom under a fully protective sunshade.
Let the acrobatics begin.
Accurate and consistent in its performance, easy and straightforward in its use, the Wakeboard Pro cruise control from PerfectPass helps even inexperienced drivers deliver smooth, predictable, essentially perfect rides to skiers and boarders. The Wakeboard Pro makes water sports more enjoyable, and simply so: just by preselecting a speed on the in-dash display and pulling the rider up as usual. At the chosen speed, the Wakeboard Pro takes firm, precise control.
And get this!
A personalized screen shows riders’ names and preferred speeds, in addition to all the expected data from a digital speedometer and tach.
And up, down, and all around the WSS boats mean that famous Cobalt ride.
Do we hear applause astern?
