The R35 Surf was unveiled to the public in December 2024 and is the latest addition to our popular Surf series. The Cobalt Surf series combines the luxury, quality, and premium appointments you expect from Cobalt with the thrill of wakesurfing systems.

Engine and Performance

The R35 Surf is powered by twin Volvo Penta V8 forward drives with joystick maneuverability. Buyers can choose to have either the 380hp (283 PkW) 380CE DP model or the 430hp (321 PkW) 430CE DP.

Engine Programs Explained

Regardless of engine choice, the engine package comes standard with Volvo Penta’s Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) and Powertrim Assistant (PTA), as well as cruise control functionality and a trip computer. The EVC and PTA programs work together to optimize trim, helping the boat reach planing speed quickly and efficiently. This also means fewer manual adjustments, so you can focus on driving instead of checking the trim indicator—all while improving fuel efficiency and ensuring optimal engine performance.

What is the benefit of Volvo’s Forward Drive system?

According to Volvo Penta, the advantage of forward-facing counter-rotating propellers is that they ‘operate in undisturbed water to provide strong thrust, stable tracking, and faster acceleration’, while offering ‘reduced noise and low-level vibration’.

Helm Station and Dashboard

The dash on the R35 Surf is next-level. Dual Garmin 8610 displays take center stage, showing all the boat’s controls and information in brilliant high-definition right at your fingertips. The plush leather steering wheel, color-matched to your upholstery, sits ahead of the screens.

This glass cockpit setup gives you control over everything, from the surf systems to the interior accent lighting.

The dash includes a digital compass, backlit stainless-steel switches for the boat’s electrical systems, hour meters for the engines, a combined USB and USB-C phone charger, and a depth and water temperature instrumentation package-all standard.

On the port side, an optional Helm Watch screen can be added, providing your co-pilot with a view of the boat’s essential information while underway.

Volvo Penta Surf Control Software

The Garmins come standard with Volvo Penta’s Surf Control Software, giving you full control over the R35’s Surf System. Simply select the Surf icon on the main screen, and you’ll have access to all the relevant Surf Controls.

Once the Surf System is turned on, creating the perfect wake is as easy as selecting from several pre-loaded presets. For more advanced riders, the wake can be manually customized to suit their preferences.

Cockpit Tour & Features

The cockpit makes full use of the R35’s 10′ beam, offering plenty of seating and storage for all your guests and crew. Additional storage is also available beneath every floor door.

A new and exciting option is available in the bench seat behind the helm. Buyers who choose the AutoDeploy Galley for their R35 Surf can enjoy a luxurious cockpit galley station that rises up from inside the bench seat at the touch of a button.

The galley station includes a small prep sink, microwave, grill, and refrigerator drawer, depending on the options selected.

Optional LED RGB accent lighting can be added throughout the cockpit, allowing your boat to match your mood. Additionally, optional wireless phone chargers can be specified, ensuring your crew’s devices are always charged and ready to capture the onboard action.

Onboard Convenience Features

The R35 boasts several onboard conveniences designed to ensure your time on the water is relaxing and spent in ultimate comfort.

At the top of the list is the onboard head compartment. Located immediately forward of the helm, it includes a Vacuflush head and a sink as standard. The compartment also features an exterior hull window, letting in plenty of natural light to eliminate the claustrophobic feel often found in competitor boats.

Cobalt R35 Surf Interior Cabin

After a long, busy day on the water, the R35’s cabin is the perfect sanctuary for your tired body.

With a spacious bed long enough for two people to stretch out, the cabin can be equipped with a 22″ Smart TV. For added comfort, buyers can opt for an air conditioning and heating system, letting you enjoy cool air as you drift off to the soothing sounds of the water.

To finish it off, you can choose up to 10 Cobalt-branded, weighted throw pillows for use around the boat. If 10 is too many, a smaller package of four is also available.

On the exterior, buyers can select from a variety of color choices and finishes, making it easy to design a boat that perfectly represents your style and preferences.
