Walkthrough the All-New R31 from Cobalt Boats
The Cobalt R31 is here, and it’s everything you’d expect from a new Cobalt Boats model. Unveiled at the 2024 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the R31 received glowing reviews from everyone who had the chance to tour her.
For those who weren’t as lucky, don’t worry—today, we’re taking you on a virtual walkthrough of this stunning new boat, highlighting all the key features onboard the R31 that we think you’ll love most.
Let’s begin with the R31’s key specs:
Cobalt Boats R31 Specs:
LOA: 31’5″
Beam: 9’10”
Power: 300hp – 430hp (engine-dependent)
Fuel Capacity: 160 GAL
Head: Yes (Macerator optional)
The Stern: Connecting the Sun & Sea
The large, wide swim platform features an optional hydraulic swim step that, at the press of a button, lowers into the water for easy access to and from the water.
Ahead of the swim platform is an aft sun pad, offering almost full-beam space to stretch out and relax while taking in the views. The adjustable backrest can be quickly repositioned fore or aft, allowing you to choose between sitting on the aft side of the sun pad or facing forward on the cockpit side.
For added comfort, built-in rumble seatbacks can optionally be added, bringing the seating closer to the swim platform.
Generous cup holders ensure your beverages are always within reach, while recessed RGB lighting adds a subtle, luxurious touch.
Splash & Stow
Lift the sun pad to reveal the spacious Splash & Stow storage area, perfect for water accessories like inflatable SUP boards and more.
Speakers are located on either side of the sun pad facing the water, allowing your crew swimming nearby to enjoy the music too.
The Cockpit: Luxury and Comfort
The cockpit interior is a major highlight of the R31. Spanning the boat’s full beam, the cockpit offers luxurious seating for multiple people.
Beneath all the seating, large storage spaces are available to stow your gear, safety equipment, and anything else you need. In addition to the storage under the seats, two large underfloor storage lockers are also included
Overhead, you can choose between a hard or soft top, providing shade and, optionally, lighting and entertainment for the entire cockpit. The optional hard top is the R31’s premium tower option and features ample standard illumination as well as subtle RGB accent lights. The optional Platinum audio system pairs perfectly with the hard top, and the additional ‘sandbar’ option adds two hidden, high-quality speakers to the hardtop, flooding the stern area with crystal-clear audio.
For those who select the hard top, a built-in motorized sunshade is available, extending over the cockpit at the press of a button. The shade comes in your choice of black or white shadecloth.
The Helm: Control and Convenience
The captain of the R31 is in for a treat. Sitting on the plush helm seat (with optional electric adjustment), the captain will discover the R31’s stunning glass cockpit. Floating neatly above the luxurious three-spoke leather wheel, the R31 is equipped with two 9″ Garmin displays, putting all the boat’s controls at the driver’s fingertips. A new feature for Cobalt, the R31 offers digital switching. Fully integrated into the Garmin screens, the digital switching gives users complete control over the boat’s systems and accessories, with instant visual feedback to indicate the status of each system.
A convenient diagnostic screen provides real-time status readouts on all of the onboard systems, making easy to identify and resolve any issues with the boat at any time.
Standard features include stainless steel switches, a digital compass, and digital hour meters, all located on either side of the wheel, while recessed RGB lighting adds a premium glow to the entire area.
The helm seating is big and plush. The extra-large helm seat comfortably accommodates two people, while the companion seat on the port side can easily seat two smaller adults.
Straight to the Good Stuff
Besides being beautifully built and spectacular to drive, Cobalt Boats place a huge emphasis on the premium details that you won’t find on other boats.
The R31 introduces a new feature not seen on previous Cobalt models: on the port side, ahead of the passenger helm chair, where you’d normally find the door to the head compartment, there’s instead a stunning prep galley.
The prep galley offers several options to create a space that’s both useful and functional.
Beneath the prep galley top, an optional charcuterie board slides out, providing a perfectly sized cutting area for meal and snack prep. Beneath the countertop, buyers can opt to include a refrigerator. If the refrigerator is not selected, a large storage area is provided for food items and other essentials.
Take a Bow
The bow of the R31 offers a spacious, spectacular area for socializing and relaxation.
Nearby, a door ahead of the helm opens to reveal a large, optional head compartment, or a storage space that can be customized for watersports gear. In the latter case, the storage can be accessed either through the helm door or via the starboard bow seating, which lifts on gas struts, making it easy to stow and retrieve larger items.
The bow features the same plush seating as the cockpit, along with recessed RGB lighting and plenty of cup holders.
Additional storage beneath the seating ensures your personal items stay safe, clean, and dry.
Buyers can also opt for a teak dinette table, transforming the bow into a perfect picnic spot.
